The objective of 600 dice game is to score most points by rolling dice and then making combinations to score. The game is played with 6 six-sided dice. The game play of 600 dice game is similar to Yacht family of games (Yacht, Yahtzee etc).

Setup:

6 six-sided dice and a score sheet to capture points for each player

600 Dice Game Play:

The game has a total of 18 combinations to score for so there are 18 rounds of play. In each round players take turn in clockwise manner to roll six dice up to a maximum of 3 times. After each roll player can set aside one or more dice and then roll remaining dice. Dice which are set aside can not be rolled again. Player is not required is roll for exactly 3 times. If player has achieved a combination before 3 rolls are over then player can simply score for that combination and pass the turn to next player.

18 combinations are grouped under 4 sections as following

  1. Numbers – Numbers section has 6 categories to score; Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes
  2. Rungs – Rungs section has 4 categories; Rung1, Rung2, Rung3, Rung4
  3. Clusters – Clusters section has 4 categories; Four of a kind, Five of a kind, Odd, Even
  4. Patterns – Patterns section has 4 categories; Singles, Pairs, Triplets, Sextet

Each category can be scored exactly once. If player cannot score for any combination then he/she can play any category for zero point. Description of each category and points which can be scored are explained below

600 Dice Game Category Chart

Rungs section has 4 categories which is simply the sum of all 6 dice. The categories can be played in any order but its score should always be in equal to or greater than the previous category score. For ex, if player scored 25 for Rung1, then Rung2 can only be scored for 25 or more points otherwise a score of zero will be awarded for that category.

For ex; 1-1-2-2-3-3 and 1-1-2-2-2-2 are valid combinations for Pairs category. Similarly for Triplets category 3-3-3-4-4-4 and 4-4-4-4-4-4 are valid combinations so 4-4-4-4-4-4 can be played for either Triplets or Sextet category. Remaining combinations are played exactly as per their description.

The maximum possible score for this game is 600 and which is what this game is named after. Once all 18 rounds are over, total is calculated for each player and bonuses are added to individual scores accordingly. The player with the highest total score wins the game.
